The students' new home is a Classic Craftsman Design, with approximately 1600 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 1 ¾ baths, with built-in expandability. The home's features address the needs of three major groups of home buyers: Retirees, 1st time home buyers, and single parent head of household.
The exterior's low maintenance theme includes Hardie Plank Cement Siding, 30 year architectural laminated roofing, energy efficient vinyl windows, and detailed cedar trim.
The welcoming foyer invites you into the home. A multi-use Great Room with gas fireplace with large entertainment center ushers you in, to come and spend some time, while the Dining Room with its art/hutch lighted recess, and glass store doors, is the perfect place for enjoying a meal with family and friends. The designer Kitchen with its skylight, multiple work stations, abundant cabinetry, pantry, and an eating/conversation bar, allows you to host the party of your dreams. Just off the kitchen, the Laundry/Mechanical room makes chores almost enjoyable, with its full laundry including built in ironing board, cabinets, and exterior access (to a possible future garage). The Master Suite is its own retreat in its wing of the home. It has its own private exterior access from the bedroom, while the Master Bath/Dressing area has two closets, (one large walk-in), double vanities, five foot custom shower with multiple shower heads. The other wing of the home features a large second bedroom, full bath, with double vanities, linen closet and a third bedroom/home office. Other features include:

3' wide doors ADA compliant

During the course of two school years, we build a modular (not manufactured) home with engineering and final drafting by Timberland Custom Homes in Auburn, WA 253-735-3435, without whom we could not offer this program. The home we are currently are building will be ready for a prospective buyer around December, 2007. Prospective buyers should contact the instructor at 206-431-5033 for bid packets (due out approximately June 1, 2007) and current design information.
Owners of a PSSC home enter into a win-win situation with the school. First, they become owners of a high quality home with interior/exterior details of a much higher priced home. Second, they are supporting a school program that is training future architects, carpenters, engineers, plumbers, designers, electricians, and construction professionals.
Before starting my semi-retirement career as the Construction Technology Instructor for PSSC, I have been most fortunate to have had a wonderful career in the construction industry, which includes over 40 years of experience in all phases of residential and most phases of light commercial construction. For the past 26+ years, I've been the President and General Manager of my own design/build firm, Pierson Homes, Inc., which specialized in high end renovations, new custom homes, and maintenance in both commercial and residential projects. Prior to starting Pierson Homes, Inc., I was employed by other local builders, in both residential and commercial companies at different levels, including superintendent, foreman, lead carpenter, designer, and drafter. My suggestions to all students is this: There are many opportunities in the Shelter (Construction) Industry, including carpentry, electrical, interior design, real estate, architecture, engineering, plumbing, and many, many more. Explore the possibilities until you find your dream career.
