Auto Body Technology

In Auto body Technology, students combine on-site learning with off-campus internships under the direction of a journeyman Auto body technician. Through the training provided here, our students develop and refine the skills and abilities needed for entry-level employment in the auto body-repair, paint-preparation field. Mr. Hendrick’s Education:

  • Green River Community College/2 years Welding Program/2 years Auto Body Program.
  • I-CAR Certification/ ASE Certification/ PPG Certification.

Mr. Hendrick’s work experience prior to PSSC:

  • Owner of All New Auto Rebuild: 1982-1990.
  • Auto Body Technician: Burien Toyota, Bowen Scarff Ford, Fitz Auto Rebuild, Kenny’s Auto Rebuild.
  • Auto Body Management: Puget Sound Auto Auction, Northwest Fleet Painting.

Mr. Hendrick’s Philosophy:

  • Enjoy working with students.
  • Student must enjoy working on cars.
  • College bound students need to know about cars.
  • Leadership/Motivation is a prime asset for the Auto Body Industr .

Course Contents:

  1. Metal straighten fundamentals:
    Metal straighten and fill body imperfections.
  2. Servicing Doors, Glass, and Leaks:
    Door Construction, Door Adjustments, Air and Water Leaks.
  3. Power Tools and Equipment:
    Air Tools, Polishers, Spray Guns, Welder.
  4. Painting and Refinishing Fundamentals:
    Spray gun applications, types of spray coats, paint blending, refinishing methods.
  5. Welding, heating and cutting:
    Welding safety, surface preparation, weld through primer, and using a MIG Welder.

I chose this class because I like to work on cars. Working on cars is fun. Some of the things that I have learned are painting, body work and fixing wrecked vehicles. I think fixing a totaled or wrecked car going from garbage to a nice clean car is very remarking to say “I fixed that” or “I did that, that’s my work”.
